Winemaker Notes
Year in and year out, this is my favorite wine to make. 2023 delivered high quality across the board in every variety I turn to for this blend. Syrah gives the wine its deep structure, dark fruit and savory register, but the growing season handed us unusually structured, powerful Grenache that only added to the complexity and generosity here. Petite Sirah rounds it out, and a single barrel of Viognier gives the whole thing a beautiful lift. Aromatically beautiful, structurally exceptional, and in my opinion one of the best versions of Mélange Rouge we have produced. I am loving it now, but this is a wine that will reward patience.
